👗 Getting Dressed When You Work From Home

Because what you wear still matters — even if no one sees it but you.

Working from home comes with comfort, flexibility, and the occasional pajama-all-day moment. But I’ve found that how I dress impacts how I feel, even when I’m not leaving the house.

At The Everyday Edit, I’ve created a wardrobe rhythm that helps me feel present, polished, and still totally comfortable. Here’s how I approach getting dressed when my office is my living room.

☁️ 1. Dress for the Mood You Want

Even if my schedule is light, I choose outfits that help me:

  • Feel focused during work blocks

  • Feel relaxed after hours

  • Feel like the main character in my own day

I dress as if I’m showing up for something meaningful — because I am.

🧺 2. Create a “WFH Uniform”

I’ve found 2–3 outfit combos that always work:

  • Comfy knit pants + fitted tee + cardigan

  • Jumpsuit + gold hoops

  • Soft jeans + oversized button-down + bare feet

Minimal decisions, maximum confidence.

🧘‍♀️ 3. Start With Movement, Then Get Ready

After my morning stretch or walk, I actually change clothes. It signals to my brain:
“We’re shifting into work mode now.”
Even if it’s just changing from sleep leggings to day leggings — it matters.

✨ 4. Accessories = Instant Elevation

Even a simple hair clip, dainty earrings, or a tinted lip balm makes me feel more pulled together. I don’t do it for Zoom — I do it for me.

🪞 5. Leave Room for Texture & Tone

I stick to mostly neutral tones (beige, black, white, soft olive), but play with texture:

  • Ribbed knits

  • Linen sets

  • Chunky cardigans
They feel elevated without being “extra.”

🕯 Bonus Tip: Set the Scene

Soft lighting, background music, and a clean surface = part of the outfit.
It’s not just what I wear — it’s the vibe I dress into.

Final Thoughts

You don’t need to “dress up” to feel dressed well.
Just show up for yourself with intention, comfort, and ease — whether it’s sweats or silk. Because how you feel in your clothes shapes how you show up in your life.
